Scrubs - Post Your Questions!

Hi everyone!

Please post any questions you have regarding scrubs, the ordering process, lead time etc. here and we will try to get back to you timeously!

Some FAQ's:

What colour will the scrubs be?

Charcoal grey.

When can we expect to get our scrubs?

Following the ordering process, the scrubs have a lead time of 3-4 weeks.

If the scrubs are incorporated into the fees, they will be procured in February/March next year after registration is complete.

How much will the scrubs cost?

Approximately R180, however this price may be lower if the scrubs will be incorporated into the fees due to a bulk order being placed.

Do I still have to wear a labcoat on externships if I wear my scrubs?

YES!!! Labcoats are still compulsory attire for externships.

Do I have to wear scrubs?

If the poll results indicate that the majority of students want to wear scrubs they will be incorporated into the fees for the year and will thus be procured for everyone. In this case, YES you will have to wear the scrubs (and your labcoat) for externships etc.

Hi are we allowed to modify our pants (cuffing it) like making them jogger pants?

Hi! The scrub pants that we are considering are not elasticated/cuffed at the bottoms, however, you would be free to do so yourself (provided you do not drastically alter the appearance/make the pants inappropriate in any way) Kind regards, Aadila Moosa Media & Communications Officer

Hi ? Would it be okay to procure the scrubs from our own tailors if we have ? With using the same proposed colours?

Hi Pfariso!

Unfortunately no, all scrubs need to be procured from the same supplier to ensure uniformity. Also, if the poll results indicate that the majority of students do want scrubs, they will be ordered for all students so you'd be paying for them (via fees) and getting them anyways 😉

Can we ask for our scrubs to be customized like elasticated at the bottom or be designed like cargo pants?

In cases that you already bought a scrub and it's not part of the colours proposed? Can you still wear it regardless?

Hi Anele,

If you have previously bought scrubs you will be allowed to wear them, as long as you still wear your labcoat over.

However, the department has stipulated going forward they'd like to ensure uniformity among students, and will not allow multiple colours of scrubs. Hence all the scrubs we will be ordering will need to be the same colour as we're ordering in bulk for the majority of the student body.
